Redemption

Soho, New York

For Italian fashion brand Redemption’s New York flagship in SoHo 3TO5 worked with studiolucaguadagnino, responsible for the creative concept, and Gensler on the development of a highly detailed retail interior.

The project

Inspired by photographs of the Rolling Stones on the Côte d’Azur in the 1970s, the Redemption store evokes the atmosphere of a private European interior rather than a conventional boutique. The design draws on the codes of a Haussmannian apartment, layering fabrics, decorative surfaces, vintage furniture and rich materials while keeping the brand’s rock ’n’ roll identity intact. Across the entrance, prêt-à-porter and VIP areas, 3TO5 fabricated custom architectural and furniture elements in Pietra di Vicenza, travertine, natural maple, engraved brass, leather and velvet. Stone and metal are balanced by leather-covered hanging systems, velvet-clad wardrobes and upholstered seating, giving the interiors a tactile, residential quality while integrating display, furniture and architecture into a single retail environment.

From entrance to prêt-à-porter

At the entrance, 3TO5 fabricated window podiums clad in Pietra di Vicenza, a round table with a hand-engraved brass top, and custom pocket doors in glass and natural maple. The stone continues underfoot alongside a polychromatic travertine floor, setting up the material richness of the rooms beyond. In the main prêt-à-porter area, the scope included all hanging systems, a custom-designed bookcase and continuous wardrobes clad in Dedar velvet and set on Pietra di Vicenza bases. Rather than functioning simply as storage or display, the cabinetry becomes part of the architecture of the room.

Custom furniture and leather-clad fixtures for the VIP area

The VIP area shifts the balance toward softer materials. 3TO5 produced the custom-upholstered armchairs and sofa, leather-clad hanging systems and a modular travertine coffee table, extending the same attention to material and proportion into a more intimate setting. Custom wardrobes and freestanding furniture were also developed for the fitting rooms, maintaining the project’s level of detail away from the main retail floor. The result is deliberately layered, stone against velvet, brass against maple, leather alongside travertine. A retail interior in which fabrication is not treated as a finishing layer, but as an essential part of the atmosphere.
