Young Residence

Flatiron District, New York

Designed by Gabellini Sheppard Associates, with Michilli Inc. as general contractor, Young Residence brings together eucalyptus wood, Calacatta marble, mirror and metal through a series of precisely crafted architectural elements

The project

3TO5 was responsible for the fabrication of custom vanities, a wet bar and a marble-clad fireplace across the living spaces, powder room and primary bathroom. Eucalyptus wood, Calacatta marble and metal define a cohesive material palette, with careful attention to proportion, alignment and detail. From the bathroom cabinetry to the fireplace in the living room, each bespoke element is conceived as an integral part of the architecture, creating continuity between spaces while giving each its own character.

Materials & craftsmanship

Eucalyptus gives the project warmth and visual continuity, while the Calacatta marble introduces movement through its natural veining. The fireplace demanded particular precision: the iron structure had to support the stone while allowing the marble cladding to read as a continuous, resolved surface. It is a detail that reflects the project as a whole — different materials, different fabrication techniques, brought together with very little visual noise.

In the fireplace the metal part is made of oxidized brass treated with an electroplating process. The glass is tempered extra clear.
